Llevo varios meses trabajando en un proyecto que a finales de mes va a ver la luz. Hoy, con mucha ilusión, os quiero presentar:

It took me several months working on a project that, by the end of this month, finally will come up. Today, hopefully, I want to introduce to you:

Una exposición fotográfica que inauguro el próximo día 23 de noviembre y a la que todos los que podáis venir estáis invitados. Solo tenéis que confirmar vuestra asistencia. Los que no podáis venir, podréis pasar a verla cuando queráis de lunes a viernes de 10h a 19h.

A photo exhibition opend on November 23, and to which all of you are invited to come. You only have to confirm your attendance. To those of you that can not come to the opening you can visit from Monday to Friday from 10 to 19 hours.

Y ahora, si me permitis, os explicaré un poco el por qué de esta exposición.

And now let me tell you why this exhibition.

Las fotografías expuestas hablan del trabajo, del esfuerzo, de la creación, de lo que representa ser un artista de “circo” (y con esto no quiero decir que todos los artistas trabajen bajo una carpa de circo). No se trata de las fotografías que se suelen realizar de los espectáculos donde la parte más estética, más bonica sale reflejada. Aquí no hay maquillajes, no hay luces espectaculares, no hay vestidos originales ni brillantes, no hay sonrisas de “mira que fácil es lo que hago!”.

The pictures show work, effort, creation, and what being an artist of «circus» means (and I don’t mean that all artists work under the circus tent). These are not usual performances pictures, which are the most aesthetic and the most beautiful. There’s no makeup, no awesome lights, no original and bright dresses, no smiles like «Look how easy is what I’m doing!”.

¿Por qué? Pues porque el circo está cambiando, quizás gracias a compañías como Circ du Soleil, aunque lo haga muy despacio y en nuestro país no esté lo suficientemente reconocido.

Why? Actually circus is changing, perhaps thanks to companies such as Circ du Soleil, but quite slowly and in our country is not worthed enough.

Observando como trabajan, uno se da cuenta de lo difícil que es, ya solo por el hecho de tener que estar constantemente trabajando el cuerpo, el equilibrio, las emociones, los miedos, la creatividad, la innovación… y sobre todo, lo que más me ha impresionado, la convicción de que, a pesar de lo difícil del momento social, no se rinden y siguen luchando por lo que quieren: ser artistas circenses.

Gazing at how they work, you realize how hard it is, just by the fact of having to be constantly working the body, balance, emotions, fears, creativity, innovation … and above all, what impresses me the most is the belief that, despite the hard time we are living, they never give up and keep standing up for their aim in life: being a Circus Artist.

El proyecto lo he estado realizando en “la Central del Circ”, un espacio de entrenamiento, ensayo y creación para los profesionales del circo. De ahí que la expo habla de los artistas que entrenan, proyectan, trabajan y “viven” en este espacio.

This project has been carried out at «Central del Circ», a coaching, rehearsals and creation for circus professionals. So the exhibition talks about artists who train, plan, work and «live» in this space.

En el proyecto también está ideada la realización de un pequeño libro donde se incluirán las fotografías que se muestran en la exposición y aquellas que, por falta de espacio, no podrán ser expuestas.

The project also plans to publish a small book that will contain all the pictures from the exhibition and those that, due to lack of space, weren’t displayed there.

Todo el proyecto (fotografías, vídeo, cartel…) está realizado por mi y la inestimable ayuda de Mª Teresa  de «La Centraleta connexions culturals».
